Service Trip Details

Who: Nine Junior Friends (Quakers), one advisor, and one FAP (Friendly Adult Presence).

Where: Service Trip to Petersfield, Jamaica through the Organization Amizade visit them at (www.amizade.org).

What: We will be working in a Summer Camp with Jamaican kids from the age of 6- 16 to teach them about technologies, American sports, and build relationships with them.

When: July 25, 2010 to August 1, 2010 (7 days total)

Why: Our Mission Statement: We, North Pacific Yearly Meeting Junior Friends, feel led to go on a service trip. Our purpose is to teach Jamaican youth about technologies that they wouldn’t normally be able to use. We want to build relationships with the community and become closer as a group. We hope to take an active roll in fulfilling our morals and ideals.

Cost: It is $840.00, which includes 3 meals a day, local transportation, housing, and planned recreational activities provided by Amizade. The only thing not included in the $840.00 dollars is planes tickets. Airfare will be from $500- $800 down to Jamaica, depending on when and where we get the tickets. So that means the total for the trip is going to be around $1,340 to$1,640.

Immunizations: You will need Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Tetanus- Diphtheria, Measles, and your routine shots. See your Doctor 4- 6 weeks before the trip to get your needed shots.

Travel Documents:  You will need a passport with you. They sometimes take a long time to get so apply for one as soon as you can.

Fundraising: It is a very important part of the trip. You can make most of your money doing this. Most of the fundraising will be individual; we might have some group fundraisers. We will be sending out a Fundraising packet for everyone.
